Boy I love this little "princess ballerina." She came downstairs dressed in her dress up clothes and did the craziest little dance for me. :)

Just Because You Can...doesn't mean you should (a toddler short)
Watching the children play from the kitchen window while washing dishes yesterday evening, I noticed my little lady adjusting her pants. It looked to me like she was pulling them up, but I didn't see them down...so...
She walked over to her big brother and told him something...something about something under the tree. He walked over to the tree with her and both of them did that adorable little toddler squat...staring at whatever it was under the tree, they then continued playing until I called them in for dinner.
Dinner conversation was the usual,
"How was your day?"
"What did you do today?"
"What do you want to do after dinner"
"I pooped under the tree today."
Sooooo, pushing our chairs from the table, getting our shoes on quickly, Daddy and I went outside, across the patio, over to the tree. You could see the flies from quite a distance. Under the tree, two little lumps. I don't even know how she did this. Seriously. I've squatted in nature. It's hard enough to pee...She's pretty amazing.
Needless to say, we had a nice little talking to about the tree...and pooping...and appropriate places to do so.

Little Chef
So in the last few days my little lady has told us that she wants to be a chef when she grows up. She is constantly making things for us...a purple hexagon toy becomes a cookie, a washcloth becomes a tortilla...and the other day she told us that she was going to make daddy a salad for dinner. (like he'd ever eat that!!)
Anyways, we went to a pizza/soup/pasta/salad bar last night for dinner. The waiter was very fun and friendly, and was talking a lot to the kids. I said, "Sissy, tell him what you are going to be when you grow up." She thinks long about it then answers, "A woman." Ahaha we got a good laugh about that one.
After dinner, she wanted to say hello to the chefs working away behind the bar. Daddy took her over to the counter and told the chef she wanted to say hi to them. I was so proud of her...she didn't just say hi. My sweet little two year old says, "Thank you chef for my dinner." I saw that grumpy, hard looking chef just completely melt. He squeezed her tummy and said, "Well I guess you really liked your dinner tonight!"

Again?
Another Friday, and I got nuttin'. Well, nothing for Five for Friday. You don't know how I actually do rack my brain over FfF..I could show you five stacks of folded clothes, or five dirty pots and pans that need washing...but instead I will tell you about a few things going on over here.
Last Saturday, we celebrated my littlest munchkin's birthday. I can't believe how fast time flies once you have kiddoodles.
Check out my little doll's dress my mom made for her when I found out I was going to have a girl. Long story short...I cried at the U/S because I wanted another boy, and I think my mom was trying to make me feel better about the whole girlly thing. It is absolutely precious on...and I've been doing doodlebug's hair up in two sloppy buns on either side of her head...and it rocks. She is such a stinkin' cutie if I do say so myself. Anyway, she's helping her daddy open up teabags for iced tea. such a helper.
My boy is all about telling jokes now. He heard one on PBS and now he is all over them. Here are a sampling of the jokes he tells..
My boy is all about telling jokes now. He heard one on PBS and now he is all over them. Here are a sampling of the jokes he tells.."Why did the chicken cross the road?"
"Why?"
"Chicken nugget."
~~~~~~~
"Knock Knock"
"Who's there?"
"Boo hoo why you cryin'?"
~~~~~~~~~~
"Why do chickens sit on their eggs?
Because they don't have any chairs!!"
~~~~~
On my daughter's true birthday this week, we went to the local bakery/diner, and I bought her and her brother a cupcake each. We had such a fun time together. Last night we were at the grocery store, and I picked up a couple all natural products that were on clearance...a cake mix and a frosting mix.
My boy said, "Mom when we gonna make that cake? That's a good idea." today at lunch, so I decided, heck, that was a good idea.
Best.cupcakes. eva. The frosting is really just a chocolate buttercream...two sticks of butter, a dribble of milk and the mix which was simply made from powder sugar, cocoa powder, and sea salt. Kinda made me wonder why we settle for tubbed frosting with 50 ingredients we can't pronounce.
Naughty Naughty
Mom: (hefting 40+lb three year old on changing table) You have poops? You probably should think about going potty like your little sissy.
Boy: (surprised at the thought) Oh no, Momma, not yet.
Mom: Well, your sissy likes the potty...you should go potty too.
Boy: (Emphatically) NO, Mom, NO! Don't say naughty things to me!
BBB
BigBoyBed...Sure it may look like a modified crib (it is) and have a modge podge of crib like accessories (it does) and the sheets don't match the blanket and pillowcase (they don't)
HOWEVER....My son is in his big boy bed! He has been for the last couple weeks and he LOVES it. We removed the front railing to his crib and attached the toddler railing and he started walking around on cloud nine. "Daddy built a big boy bed for me.." he said proudly. And now, he crawls into bed on his own...no more lifting my nearly 40 lb 2 1/2 year old into bed...and I can sit on the side of his bed and read to him at night! So much more comfy than sitting on the floor.
Little sissy likes it too. We have to get onto her for crawling into his bed and jumping up and down. Silly girl! I think before we know it, we will be converting her bed too and making his into the full sized bed.
Next project..potty training!
Extreme Diggers
It's amazing how much censoring you do as a parent, trying to protect your little one from hearing, or seeing things that would harm their little, impressionable minds.
I remember when our little man first started paying attention to what was on tv...we realized how quickly we would need to change the channel...or mute it...or even turn it off... (And that was just for commercials!!) I never realized how many scary movie commercials come on in the 7pm hour on fox than I did while we were watching American Idol last season.
Try as we may, something inevitably will slip by...even the most innocent of things can become a scary ordeal for your child...
Case in point:
My son LOVES tractors, loves them. He sees them before I do, he points them out as we pass them, and he always acknowledges that the tractors are "workin' so harrrd." So one Sunday maybe two weeks ago, we had the tv on, watching as a little family, and we tuned into Extreme Home Makeover. There was a large tractor on screen, you know, the ones that demolish the houses...we call the ones with the long "necks" if you will, Diggers. And he pointed it out to Daddy. Then it began to demolish the house.
A few days ago, as Hubby was changing son's diaper, Little Man goes, "It's not gonna get you..." Daddy says, "What's not gonna get you?"
"the big digger. It's not gonna get the house."
"Oh no Son, it's not gonna get the house. You're safe."
Then yesterday, I was changing his diaper and he says to me, "Digger's not gonna get the ceiyying (ceiling)."
"Oh no, baby, it's not gonna get our house."
"It's not gonna kill me."
"Oh, Baby, you're safe. It only gets houses when no one is in it and they want it to knock it down."
Oh my goodness...I can't believe my little man is afraid of the tractor coming to "kill" him like we kill the random fly or spider in our house. (That's the only way he knows what kill means..)
And we do, we try so hard to shelter him from scary...and the one thing he is afraid of is a tractor.
Nothing like
a two year old who just stops walking.
ya.
just stops. won't let you put him on his feet...crawling around the house and afraid to stand.
first you think..."knock it off and walk."
then "okay already...what is going on?"
then "should I take him to the doc?"
then "naaa...it will get better on its own"
then "what time can I get him an appt?"
then "arthritis?? infection?? worse case leukemia?"
then "you want me to hold him down how?"
then "when are the test results coming back?"
then "why isn't he walking??"
then "phew" because he placed both feet firmly on the ground and began walking.
really makes you appreciate good health when you are going from doc to lab to specialist in just a few days. and all because...from what we gather from the mancub...he stuck his leg into the spaces between the bars in his crib and got it stuck.and pulled it out.hard.
Where Does Jesus Live?
I asked little man yesterday.
We were watching Oprah of all things and she was showing a video called 99 balloons...about this sweet little baby born with Trisomy 18 and only living 99 days. Of course I have tears welled up in my eyes, and then the camera pans to Oprah who also has tears streaming down her face.
My Bubs looked at me and I said, "The baby went to be with Jesus. " He seemed very content with that answer and wasn't in the least bit concerned or disheartened. I thought I would follow up with another question...
"Where does Jesus live?"
Very matter of factly he tells me, "Oh, He lives at Gramma's house."
"Is Mommy Pretty?"
asked Daddy to little man this weekend...
"No"
"Is Mommy Beautiful?"
"No"
"What is Mommy?" implores Daddy, now feeling kinda baddish that he's asking his son this as I perma-grin holding back tears (j/k about the tears...kinda)
"Mommy's happy."
PT
As in Potty Training.
My bff from college motivated me on the phone the other day.
So I started on Monday with little man. MUCH better than our first attempt maybe a month ago. That one ended at naptime after five pee spots everywhere except the potty.
It really has been pretty painless this time...I just sit him on the potty right after he wakes, right before he eats and right after he eats...his length of potty sits has been growing shorter and shorter before he makes the pee. His greatest accomplishment is dumping the pee into the big potty and flushing.
Yesterday we had a breakthrough...Everytime he has been peeing it has been because I have placed him on the potty. He told me yesterday "I has to poopoo." I said, "Pull your shorts down and sit on the potty." Of course he really didn't want to sit on the potty again, but he did. He sat there for maybe five minutes then said, "I DID IT!" and when I went to look, there was a TON of pee waiting for him to flush. I told him he did the right thing...and for the rest of the day he kept telling me, "I did the right thing."
We are still kinda low key about it, diapers for naps and nightnight..but I he's really getting it...now that we have kinda bridged the battle of the wills yesterday with the "right thing" breakthrough.
I tryin to say somethin'
It's those pesky letter L's...and for some reason two year old little tongues just have a hard time wrapping around those particular shapes.
Daddy: What's in your pocket
Boy (looking in pocket to see what he had put there earlier that afternoon): A Dawyer
Daddy: A what?
Boy: Dawyer!
Daddy: a dollar
Mommy(slightly irritated that daddy is getting a kick out of boy's frustration): Daddy, come on,
that's what he's trying to say. Those letter L's are hard...
Daddy: What is in your pocket?
Boy(big grin): Daddy, I tryin to say somethin!
-~-~-~-
Baby girl: Ummmmmmm blllllaaaaaayyyyyy llllllllla
Translation- umbrella
She was pointing out the window right at it and said it. So cute!
(Boy is still afraid it wants to eat him.)
Toolbox
For my boy's birthday last year...my dad made the big boy a toybox...shaped like an oldfashioned toolbox. too cute.
and since then, my little bug calls it his toolbox.
and on friday he decided to take every last toy out of it. with the help of sissy of course. note the deer in headlights look upon her face.
MeeMee, Ya, that's Meeeee
Yes, Mee Mee. And that would be ME, ME *waving and jumping*.
My Itty baby girl calls me MeeMee instead of Mommy, and I kind of love it. I especially love it because she has been calling me Mommy and Momma for quite some time and my son didn't say that til he was like 18 months old. But MeeMee. That just melts me heart. (said with a pirate voice)
Ya.
That's the other one. She answers everything with YA now. OH MY GOODNESS. so cute.
"Sissy, do you want to eat?" "Ya."
"Did you make poopoo?" "Ya."
"Do you love your Bubba?" "Ya."
I can't stand it...it's so cute.
No walking yet...but she sure does know how to get around, that one.
Lastly, we totally believe in teaching the babes the correct names for their "private parts" in fact, we don't use the words private parts either. So sonny boy was leaving off the VA part of the female anatomy off when he would say it, but I would just say, No, it's VA-gina...
anyhoooos. He started putting VA infront of everthing...like, VaPenis. Va-yotion (va lotion). Vamac&cheese..ya.
sooo
We went on a walk the other night. I was pulling the kids in their wagon. we start to pass a house where someone is weeding their garden. guess who decides it's time to say the word correctly? That's right. That would be little man...
i was mortified, and rightly so. i really hate the word...and quickly changed the subject to dogs. followed closely by a chorus of little bitty voices "woofing" in the wagon.
Intentions...or Haircut number 3
I get online with every intention of filling everyone in on life and such...and then I feel guilty because I don't have a picture to go with the blog! How lame.
So I am just gonna write my blog with the INTENTION of putting in images VERY SOON!!
So Saturday we went to the mall with the INTENTION to get Little Man's haircut for the third time in his life. We were set to take him to the "haircut store" aka Mop Tops. It is a cute little children's salon that has Merry Go Round type horses for the tots to sit on (and hold on for dear life to) to keep their little hands occupied...Well, we hype it up...we tell him, "We're going to the haircut store and Bubba's getting his hair cut." He's ready, he says, "Sure." (That's his new answer for everything...followed closely with NO most of the time.) We pull up to mop tops with the kids in the double stroller...and *heart beating quickly* the metal bars are down over the entrance...Um Um Uhhhhhhhh HEM.
See here is the before shot...Ya, he needed a haircut BAD!!
Now you must understand, that little man has beautiful, golden curly locks...I can't just trim it up...need I remind anyone of the "Billy Ray" I did to him? Well, his first haircut was ADORABLE...but he was traumatized by the squirt bottle and Daddy holding his hands down...In fact...when I add pics to this post, I will insert some of his first cut. As promised:
His second cut, was a Buzz. Yes, you heard me correctly, we went from a cute scissor cut to daddy pulled out the shears and buzzed that junk OFF. We thought he was traumatized the first time...wweeeellllllll after that, he wouldn't even look at himself in the mirror for months. oops.
Back to heart racing...They aren't even closed...they are GONE!!! What?!?! So, we take him to JCPenney's salon...(How many of you had NO earthly idea that JCP even had a salon?) And I ask the lady at the counter if they cut children's hair. She said they did, then walks about ten feet away to these two stylists sitting there shooting the breeze. I hear her ask, "Who wants to cut a two year old's hair?" The 40 somethingish man with the feathered boooofahnt (no idea on spelling) says in his shriekish old ladyish voice, "I wanna cut, I wanna highlight...." and was going off about how they did not want to cut a two year old's hair. HELLO!! I CAN FREAKIN' HEAR YOU...So we walked away. Got in the car. Made a plan.
Great Clips. They should be named, Life Saver, Wonderful, Fabulous Clips. Or at least Lee should be. She was all of the above. Little man sat down very distraught....Daddy busted out the juice box for Bubba. She had Daddy put on his apron and squirt his head down. By now, tears and frowns are turned into joy and laughter. And her hands moved at lightening speed. KaChow! He's adorable. And we kept the integrity of his hair without a mullet.
And now...the moment you all have been waiting for:
Oh Happy Day...
Well, It's been some time I post again...so here I go.
Toddler Moment:
Okay, so some of you might remember my post on my myspace blog relating to the embarrassment and eyebrowraising that went on when little man invented the "F" word. If you didn't read and aren't quite familiar...here is an excerpt:
Friday, June 06, 2008
the F word
So..on with my story. My 17 month old, is learning to talk...so cute, he repeats every thing he hears. But this is not a story about him repeating a word he has heard. This is about him creating his own word (albeit a word already created in the "real" word) and using it to his heart's content...and his mommy, not so sure how to approach this one. (if at all)
I was grocery shopping with my two babes today. Gonna make Mexican food tonight so hubby said to grab some Dos Equis. So that is in the bottom of the basket. Josh starts saying "Foo fa" which in my previous post is his word for the moon in spanish. Then he starts saying, "Uck" because the shopping cart had some blackish smudge on the handle. I acknowledge both and pick up a bag of blue corn chips. (I'm no dummy, I used to watch Sesame Street with the two headed monster that puts two sounds together to make one word...I can see where this COULD go.) Then he goes, "Ho ho ho" which is my cue for singing the Ho ho ho hosanna, Ha ha hallelujah song...so I start singing away...(quite oblivious to the fact that I am in the grocery store until much later, I might add) All the while the little two headed monster is working on Foo fa and Uck in my little boy's head. I'm finishing the song off with "I've got the joy of the Lord..." ready to repeat the ho ho ho part when the tiniest voice in front of me starts saying....yup...you guessed it. F*** F*** F*** F***.
I'm standing in front of the ground beef...staring at my little man who is as proud as a peacock to have invented such an intriguing word, and yes, I am getting stares. I know I must look like a wreck on wheels...Two babies under two years old, singing about getting saved, with a six pack of beer in the cart and my boy practically shouting the F bomb. I may have had the "what? this isn't normal?" look on my face, but I was smiling on the inside. Oh how sweet is that innocence...
Well, that was then, and this is now...and we *think* he is using the word "Forgot" in front of almost EVERYTHING...like when I say, "Hey, where is your sippy?" He says "Oh I forget sippy." HOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWeeeeeeeever, it doesn't in the least bit sound like "Forget" it sounds like "EFFit" but not even effet...like full on...well you get the idea. So we are going through that again. And it's funny!! I mean...Hubby and I keep straight faces in front of little man, but we turn our heads and give the side glance to each other like, "Did you just hear that??"
Little ladybug is doing just fabulous!! She has an amazing vocab for just being one. I credit it to the fact that she has a Bubba that is constantly talking to her...and her momma won't shut up...and well, she's just brilliant. :) She learned "NO" waaayyyy earlier than sonny boy did...but that is to be expected if she wants to have any peace while playing with her toys. Her newest is "I love you." She says, "I uuuuv oooooo" presh.
Spring keeps having false starts over here. I just want Spring to "Bring it.." and bump out winter. We are going to dust off our bikes...buy a bike trailer, and hit the trails soon. I cannot wait to tow those two happy babes around on my bike!! It has been over two years since I have put the pedal to the metal on my Kona. Soon enough. In the meantime, a bunch of March Mommas and I are doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred. Killllla!! Wow. that thing is brutal...when you haven't used your muscles in a while that is... *ahem.* I am going on day 7 today. I have been having trouble with my feet hurting while doing jumping jacks and jumprope...I thought it was my shoes so I bought new ones...and they hurt worse. I think I will continue to do the workout barefoot?? I had to quit midway yesterday because my feet hurt so bad. I was encouraged, however, because I took measurements yesterday and in 5 days of shredding, I have lost 2 1/2 inches!! that's pretty exciting!!
Watched the Changeling Friday night. Wow. That was a bit darker than we expected...but very good...just left ya kinda emptyish. It's long too. like 3 1/2 hours. I think we finished around 11:30 pm and the hubby pops in Cars...I was sooo tired, but he said he couldn't go to sleep on "that note"...
I have the cutest baby washcloths for sale in my shop right now...and I made a PRECIOUS preemie hat for Brooklyn Lorenz (check out her blog in my profile). I'm just waiting for her daddy to send me his addy!! I've never attempted one before, but I just had to...and it's adorable...will be even cuter atop her sweet little noggin.
I will post pics soon...sorry this got so long. Have a wonderful week!!
Toddler Moment:
Okay, so some of you might remember my post on my myspace blog relating to the embarrassment and eyebrowraising that went on when little man invented the "F" word. If you didn't read and aren't quite familiar...here is an excerpt:
the F word
So..on with my story. My 17 month old, is learning to talk...so cute, he repeats every thing he hears. But this is not a story about him repeating a word he has heard. This is about him creating his own word (albeit a word already created in the "real" word) and using it to his heart's content...and his mommy, not so sure how to approach this one. (if at all)
I was grocery shopping with my two babes today. Gonna make Mexican food tonight so hubby said to grab some Dos Equis. So that is in the bottom of the basket. Josh starts saying "Foo fa" which in my previous post is his word for the moon in spanish. Then he starts saying, "Uck" because the shopping cart had some blackish smudge on the handle. I acknowledge both and pick up a bag of blue corn chips. (I'm no dummy, I used to watch Sesame Street with the two headed monster that puts two sounds together to make one word...I can see where this COULD go.) Then he goes, "Ho ho ho" which is my cue for singing the Ho ho ho hosanna, Ha ha hallelujah song...so I start singing away...(quite oblivious to the fact that I am in the grocery store until much later, I might add) All the while the little two headed monster is working on Foo fa and Uck in my little boy's head. Get Your Mind Out Of the Gutter
So my son is throwing an everloving FIT as we speak. He loves the icecream truck...I mean LOVES it. He ran to his sister's window to watch it as it passed and played the "Muffin Man" song. Then, well, then, he wanted icecream.
Mommy says NO. He is fussing sooooo hard right now it's hilarious...and this lead me to remember an eventful walk I took with him about a year and a half ago.
I passed this house in my neighborhood. Very unassuming house. Had the front window open. And I heard someone inside grunting and groaning. I walked faster and thought terrible thoughts about that dirty person in there getting their jollies in front of the opened window.
Back to now..in Sissy's room, with the window opened...I have a grunting and groaning little man...so angry that momma won't get him icecream.
I wonder what the neighbors are thinking.
Boy: "Memmmber? Member da truck?"
Me: The firetruck you were driving at the pizza place?
Boy: No. (Totally staccato followed promptly by) Meemmmmber? Da truck da music, I heard it.
Me: Oh, ya, the truck it went vrooom vrooom... ? ***losing a tad bit of confidence. maybe I don't
"member"***
Boy: No. Member da music da truck I heard it Icecream truck.
Me: *lightbulb* Oh, YA!! I remember the icecream truck!! Did you hear it?
Boy: No.
Boy: Member Cramma?
Daddy: Gramma?
Boy: No. Member at church? Cramma?
Daddy: Was Gramma at church? Did you see Gramma? (She was NOT there, by the way)
Boy: No. Meeeemmmmber? Da yight, the cramma, at church?
Daddy: ***Ding Ding Ding**** Yes, I remember!!! The camera at the church today!!
In other news, baby girl got her first hair trim this weekend!! I can't believe how improved she looks after cleaning up a few stragglies!! I did it myself too, so even though half the time I have no earthly idea what my son is talking about, I at least know I can trim a headfull of baby hair.
Lastly, I am working on cotton crochet sponges..I am actually really excited about them. I have been using them for washing dishes and am very impressed with their effectiveness. My only problem is they are not super duper attractive...I am thinking about naming them Ugly Scrubbies. I will let you know how that goes.
