Sneak peek

At my bag..I made for ME!!

Toolbox

For my boy's birthday last year...my dad made the big boy a toybox...shaped like an oldfashioned toolbox. too cute.

and since then, my little bug calls it his toolbox.

and on friday he decided to take every last toy out of it. with the help of sissy of course. note the deer in headlights look upon her face.

It's official

Summer is upon us. And while I couldn't get little man outside at all. (I think he thinks the umbrella wants to eat him.) Little Ladybug is alllll over the water. She LOVES the pool. and summer. note the remnants of berry smoothie all over her face.

Aaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwk ward.

(Eyebrows lifted, voice high.....head tilted to the side...)

Ya. So, we have had a changing of the guard in our neighborhood. Our competetive next door neighbor has flown the coop. No more, "Anything you can do, I can do better...I can do anything better than you." NO YOU CAN'T...not anymore because he moved to Vegas. And we were just starting to like him..a little.

Enter family with 4 children 7 and under. Wow. loudness.

But they are not the change I speak of. Our other next door neighbor. Yes. A nice little couple...the man, I'd say is young 40's and the stripper wife...33. She's nice. I was totally getting to know her last summer. She'd come and hang out with me in the front yard when I would have the kids out for a bit.

And then she disappeared. Haven't really seen her since maybe Christmas.

And now the husband has a roommate. A young, "hot" roommate. Um. and now the husband plucks his eyebrows and exfoliates and maybe wears a lil' bit of foundation...and maybe a lil tiny bit of eyeliner.

I find this to totally be a bit of an awkward experience. Our neighbor just came out of the closet...and I kinda miss the stripper.

Just made

My first ad...someone is giving away free advertising...so I thought I would give it a go. What do you think??

I've also just made my first few sets of coasters. I know, I know, kinda typical for crochet...but I kinda love them...

And, I am still working on my friend's bday bag. Her bday was in February...but she'll get it soon. I'm sick of staring at unfinished work! I will be getting it to her next week.

I scored at hobby lobby!!! I found kits made by sugarand cream cotton yarn...with three almost 1 lb balls for less than $15. That was a huge score. I needed brown and black...and they had a camo colored one too. I made the boy a big floppy sunhat! :)

Tell me what you think abou the ad and the coasters! :)

Lessons Learned from a successful garage sale

We cleaned up and cleaned out yesterday at our garage sale. YAY us. But, I have to say there are some really really tightwad people out there...especially when I was practically throwing items at people.

Here are a couple cases of what naughty things customers did to us yesterday:
~ I watched as a woman was looking at the baby girl clothes and held up a shirt and something else...(they were 25cents each) she wrapped a dress around it and tucked it under her arm. (I think) and then came to me with the balled up dress under her arm and payed a quarter for all three items.

~ I placed a $2 sticker on a leather wallet that had never been used...a woman brought it to me with a $1 sticker...I was so sure I put a two dollar sticker I even turned it over....she paid $1 and walked away. Later I found the $2 sticker she had peeled off in one of my boxes.
(Really???)

The principle of both of those incidents really bugged me. The funny thing is it is not about the $1.50 that I was ripped off of, but basically that it was a mere $1.50 that those people ripped me off of!!!!

Seriously, I am not one of those garage sellers who is like marking leather wallets that have never been used for $10...I marked it for two freakin dollars. And really, like baby clothes for a quarter a piece...and you have to steal two pieces??? I would have given both women those items at the price they wanted it at...the fewer things left over the better...I hope both of them felt soooooo guilty the rest of the day.

Secondly, Baby items are HOT!!! I mean within minutes of opening the garage door...I sold the high chair, then the swing, and the exersaucer. NICE!

Finally, hubby sold his 22" rims. They have sat in our garage for about 4 years and we have placed them in numerous garage sales...Man, there are some serious shoppers out there...this guy was packin' lots of hundreds in cash.

So all in all, this has been our most successful sale, we cleaned our garage and organized when it wasn't busy, and we made it short and sweet. Just about 3 1/2 hours and it was over. Our day didn't seem like it was gone after the sale was over.

Now to do some bike trailer shopping!! :)

Happy Mother's Day

Here it is my third Mother's Day. I can't believe how lucky I am to be the Mother of two beautiful, wonderful, funny, silly, sweet, smart babes. Here's a little trip down my motherhood journey.
1 wk before little man arrived

3 days before little lady made her appearance

I love these babes with all my heart and truly hope to instill in them a sense that they can do anything they set their mind too, that they are valued enough to keep their standards high, and that they will never settle for mediocrity in their choice of friends, schools, jobs, and spouses. I never want them to feel like their wings are clipped to where they are not able to soar to the heights and purposes that God has for them, and I want them to know they are always loved and treasured, but never feel squeezed so tightly in my grasp that they feel suffocated.
I have the sacred and wonderful responsibility of raising these wonderful little people..on loan to me, by God. And my prayer on Mother's Day is that He would help me to bring them up in the best way I can.
Happy Mommas day to all the Mothers in my life.

Super Excited

About my new sunhat design. I feel like I have been spamming facebook too much with my posts, but I just want everyone to see how totally sweet these little numbers are. I messed up.

Like real bad on Monday night. Just kinda trying to throw things together for dinner. I had defrosted skinless, boneless chicken wings, and really had no idea what to do with them. at all.

so about 45 minutes before my man was due to arrive home i looked in a cook book and was thrilled to note that i did indeed have all the ingredients for chicken kiev. yogurt, garlic, salt, pepper. hmmm. never tried the kiev, have no idea what it is supposed to taste like..

cooked it. there was an overwhelming scent of garlic wafting from those humble breasts.

they were unedible. hubby came home and we taste tested. we went out to eat. but in this economy...can't let good chicken go to waste. i ziplocked them and wracked my brain for ways to use them and soon.

well happy cinco de mayo to me...i realized that they would be great in chicken enchiladas!!! woooooot. and they were absolutely fabulous. so my monday wreck turned into a tuesday treasure!!

My Pasta Primavera

So when your hubby compliments you by saying, "Wow this is restaurant quality" and asks for seconds...you know you have a good thing going. I thought I would share with you.

Ingredients:

1 bunch fresh spinach chopped

3 small zucchini cut lenghwise and sliced

1 container cleaned and sliced mushrooms

1 small crown broccoli chopped

1 large can diced tomatoes rinsed and drained

1 bag shredded carrots

1 cooked sausage sliced (like hillshire farms) I used turkey

(ya know the U shaped sausage in the meat dept.)

3 cloves garlic, crushed and chopped

olive oil

your favorite pasta

parmesan cheese

salt and pepper to taste

In a large saucepan over medium heat, pour about 2 tablespoons oil, add garlic.

next, add all vegetables except the tomatoes. Add salt and pepper and cover. Let the veggies steam themselves for about 10-15 minutes. Add tomatoes and sausage and stir. Cover again for about 5 min.

In the meantime, cook pasta. drain. place back in same pot you boiled it in and add the veggie and sausage mixture and stir.

Serve with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese on top.
