I WON!!

I'm a part of the Peaches & Creme group on Ravelry. Basically, a fan club for a really great yarn!  Every month, one of the moderators, Flo, who works at Peaches & Creme draws a name from all the projects posted to the group and the winner receives two cones of whatever they want.  I had been checking the customer appreciation thread, and knew it was almost time for a winner. I thought I would add another project, in hopes that maybe this time it would be me...well, I opened up my Ravelry account and found three messages in my inbox...all three telling me, or congratulating me on being a winner!! I was shocked and happy and so excited!  Then came the hard part...picking ANY two cones I wanted...from so many colors .  I decided I wanted to try a cabled cotton...so I got the hot pink 1 lb cone. I am already starting a little tank top for my babe...I'll show you when I am done.  I also thought I would try the sour green apple...I love the blue, green, brown and ecru combined in this cone. Can't wait to make a slouchy spring hat with it!!
Have you knitters and crocheters out there joined Ravelry yet?  You should look me up...I'm jenster76.

Well hello!

I've been deeply buried in yarn for the last couple weeks. I did design a very easy coaster/scrubbie...so watch for it either later today or tomorrow!

Contigo...I love you

So my friendie Gwendie came over the other day after hitting the gym.  She showed me her new toy. Her water bottle. It is spill proof, BPA free, dishwasher safe, 24 oz, and can hold her keys at the gym. The best part was, that it only cost her $6 and change....$18 for a three pack.  How can you get your hands on one?  Well, they are available online here and at Costco warehouse (for that great price.)  I just bought a three pack last night with such cool colors, a purple bottle, a lime green and a charcoal...all have some cool tattoo-esque  pin striping and images.  Can't wait to take my new toy to the gym! :)

Five Goals...Revisited

Well, it has almost been a month since I listed these five goals..I think it is time to revisit.  I asked you if you wanted to list your five goals too...that we would revisit once a month for three months.  I'm hoping you did...because now it's time to see our progress. :)

1. To join a gym.  Check.  I have been going almost everyday...was sick for about a week and the kids were, so I had to skip out for about that long. Just getting back to it again.  So far, for sure (and not due to illness) I have lost 5 lbs.

2. To finish our backyard. Almost. However, we have a giant pile of yard trash and debris in the middle of the yard...not anymore  We want to put some grass in front of our patio,CHECK a play area for the kids, nope and a garden.CHECK

3. To shampoo our carpet in the entire house.  Potty training is messy.  Just when you think they've got it, there is yet another mess to clean. So soon. I want clean carpet again. deep down clean. No steamed carpet, but the kids are completely potty trained now...so we are getting closer to the carpet goal.

4. To be able to park our cars inside the garage.  nope, not at all, but I have taken an entire truckload of stuff to goodwill and made a little bit of a clearing.

5. A garden. YUP!! We have a pepper patch, with bell peppers, NM green chile, serranos, poblanos, jalepenos and even tabasco peppers. Zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, tomatoes and grapes and currents. I even bought a stevia plant to
harvest the leaves from!

So how are you coming along with your short term goals?
Until next time!

Piece of Cake Cake Mix Cookies

I bought a box of cakemix on clearance the other day.  It was the "good kind" made with whole wheat and cane sugar...so buying it on clearance was a score on my part. They didn't have their boxed icing mix this time...which was no biggie, so it has just sat in my cupboard for about a week.

I decided (while boiling macaroni for lunch today) that we needed cookies after lunch.  So I browsed for cake mix cookies, and this is what I came up with.

1 box cake mix
2 eggs
1 stick butter

Heat oven to 350

melt butter

combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl until blended.  Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Place in oven for 7-10 minutes and remove. Allow to cool slightly before removing from pan.

You can add all kinds of goodies to them, and even frost them, but we liked ours just like this! :)

Pom Pom Maker

Have you seen my new pom pom slippers?? Aren't they adorable? I am busily working on a whole bunch more of them for the shop. They're just fun, you know??  Got me thinking that maybe, just maybe, pom poms would be a heck of a lot of fun to use as an embellishment for gifts, on sweaters, on head bands or barrettes...then I thought of you all...How fun it would be if I could show you how I make my crazy pom poms so you could too. So, a twofer today. A tutorial on how to build a pom pom maker and a tutorial on how to make the pom poms. lol enjoy!
