Flagstaff Find

While on a whirlwind road trip through Flagstaff, I asked Mr T if we could stop at the GW I saw on the side of the road. I said, "You never know what people in these little communities are donating, and who's looking."

I made my case. He agreed.

I found a few pieces of pyrex...a large primary mixing bowl that was in fair condition...I left it there...
A Town and Country divided dish....I left it there....
and, my first piece of England Pyrex.
It's called Blue Iris...seems like there are a lot of them floating around right now

Look how cute the handles are...scooped in like so..

It was marked at $6.99, but I thought that was fair for a piece that somehow, some way made it's way across the big blue pond! :)

There's a storm a'comin!

It crept slowly, eeking out the blue skies...yet captivating us with the sunset.

Christmas Craftiness

I seriously feel like I've been thrown into the deep end and am treading water through these last few weeks.  I barely have a moment here or there to get my head out of my crochet craziness to pop in here and say hello.

I am thankful that I've decided to close the shop for a little while on December 11. I've got my little man's birthday coming up, then Christmas and the New Year festivities. My husband would love to stretch his legs out on the couch instead of avoid all the crazy skeins of yarn and measuring tapes and slippers taking up one half of it!

Besides my crafting, I have been trying to take the time to be a momma and do fun stuff with the kidlets!  We've got our tree up.

And we've decorated trees with foam stickers from Michael's. (kept the tots occupied for at least an hour)

We've even done some Christmas cookies. (I haven't done my homemade recipe yet, these were a mix)

And Daddy even brought home a TJ's Gingerbread house last night to make with the babes.

So that's what we've been up to over here. Can't wait until I have some more time to share more with you. What are you up to these days?

Spring...Squirrel?

My kids love Curious George...they love the squirrel friend, Jumpy Squirrel.

So two days ago, we were eating lunch and the kids say, "Momma, it's Jumpy" and lo and behold...guess who's scampering along the wall.
Now living where I do, this is NOT a usual occurrence. I have never seen a squirrel in my neck of the desert...and quite frankly, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if a coyote ate him for lunch shortly after this pic was taken. :)

inspired

a virtual friend of mine posted a picture of shelves filled with yarn stacked upon each other...probably in a store somewhere. i loved it.

soon after, i was showing my mom my newly improved craft room. she said i should have shelves in there. i thought about it, and remembered this post with the picture of the shelves. i asked my dad if he would build me some shelves. he went to Home Depot and found some closet cubby shelves premade, and he installed them in my craft room!!

and I filled them!!
yummy. now i can see which yarns i have, need and want to work with.
yay!!

Well howdy ya'll!!

I never knew how popular a blog could get just by posting one little crochet pattern. There have been around 2000 views since Thursday since I posted the pattern. Have you made your scrubbing bobbles yet?? I made one in acrylic and one in cotton. I had heard that acrylic tawashis were all the rage in Japan, so I wanted to see what an acrylic sponge would handle like...it was awesome!!! The cotton one works fantastical as well!

Here is a preview of my next pattern. It is super simple, yet so luxurious. I love my cotton spa cloths, and I know you will too!!
Today has been one of those really weird weather days, really gray skies and then rain, then snow, then sunshine....I've had such a yummolicious pot of coffee slowly warming me up today. It's one of those days that can get away from me if I am not careful. I need to finish up a few projects today...that seems to be the hardest part for me...the finishing...and start on a few more...on top of the laundry, vacuuming and and cooking and cleaning.

I told you about my new dryer last week. This has inspired a whole makeover in our laundry/craft room. We took out the box freezer and placed it in the garage...and we brought our computer desk down into my craft room. It was too wide, so I had my ever so crafty dad cut it down on one side.It is going to be my sewing machine table...now I need to learn how to use it. Next....ooooh this part makes me want to squeal like a little school girl....He is going to build me a set of cubby shelves so I can organize my stash of yarn by color and skein...Oh I so cannot wait!!
And lastly, just a shot of my beautiful buttons!! Do you have a button collection?? This is just one tin filled to the brim...I have many more buttons...but I need to buy a new bin for them!!
See you soon my lovelies...and please feel free to say hello!!

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Two things I made yesterday...
Been wanting a huge headband for about a month...I love to wear buns and ponies, but they don't look so great with a big ol hat on....so I found this on ravelry...I used a skein (not all the way up) of red heart collage...I love how it striped.
Secondly, the kids and I were watching "Sid the Science Kid" on PBS yesterday morning, and he made ice pops with his parents...of course my little monkey asked if we could make ice pops too, so last night we did. We bought teensy little Dixie style plastic cups...I had some lollypop sticks for another project, and we bought a delish orange mango juice from TJ's and we had bananas...thats all ya need. Slice your banana really thick and place in bottom of the cup, stick your popsicle stick into the banana, pour in juice and freeze...The kids ate theirs this morning. My one year old pretty much ate the whole thing, and my three year old was done after his teeth got too cold. Me? Well, I waited until the kids had their naptime and thoroughly enjoyed my ice pop...even if it is grey and snowing outside.

Shower gifts..

I've had the pleasure of joining up with a friend of mine to make some items for the "filling" inside of her adorable diaper cakes. She wanted something special for her friend at church who was having twins, a boy and a girl, and I made these for her. Secondly, our friend who had been trying to conceive for nearly five years scored two years ago with the birth of her first child, a daughter. She kept praying that she would be able to have at least one more babe, and lo and behold, on their first try, they got pregnant with a boy. I made some sweet baby boy items for the little man.
And here are a few pics of the finished cake. Lovely, Amy! :)

I love our zoo..

Seriously, like love it.

We have gone probably I don't know close to 50 times in the last nine years...or maybe even more. And, we finally bought a zoo pass. Now, our zoo going can be unlimited for a year with this pass!

Here's some pics from our latest visit.

(and on a side note about my watermark...no...I don't think I am a photographer now, I just am claiming what is rightly mine.)

This is a tiny hawk...a pygmy from Africa. It is the smallest hawk in the world!
I've never got this shot before...I guess he was just being a show off..

Our elephants used to rock back and forth in a small dirt enclosure, now they have so much to do..
like totally get pissed at each other...you should have heard this elephant ROAAAARRRRR.
